Head's Welcome
Mendell Primary is a warm, welcoming school. We are a one form intake school which makes us small enough to know the names of every child in school and get to know each child individually. We are inclusive and welcome all families and children into our community.
Our passionate and hard-working staff team are constantly striving to create the best possible learning experiences for your children ensuring that they are having fun and learning in a safe, supportive environment.
We have extensive grounds and outdoor learning is a key part of our curriculum. At Mendell, we are a reading school and we aim for every child to learn to read by age 7, thereafter children read to learn. Throughout their time at Mendell, we aim to develop a love of reading in our children.
‘Reading is the gateway for children that makes all other learning possible.’
- Barack Obama
At Mendell we believe that regular school attendance is central to raising standards in education and to improving the life chances of all children. Regular attendance at school enables children to gain maximum benefit from the range of educational and wider opportunities available to them.
We work very closely with S4YC and are pleased to be able to offer 30 hour provision on our site. Many of our children also go to S4YC for before and after school wrap-around care. If you are not eligible for 30 hours funding, you are able to access this provision at a cost. If you have any questions about our provision or would like some help regarding accessing 30 hours funding, please click the link below to find out more:
We would take great pleasure in showing your around our lovely school - please contact the school office for an appointment and have a look around our school website.
